Big Sister Party

When I was 3 1/2, my amazingly beautiful little sister Emma was born. My mom, being the insightful and loving woman that she is, knew that this was going to shake up my so-far-only-child little life a whole bunch. She got some of my friends together, raided Goodwill for some dress up clothes, and a few weeks before my sister made for her first appearance into the world: threw me a 'big sister tea party'. My mom is clearly the best!

I was telling my friend Sarah about this, and she decided to do the same thing for her sweet girl, who was expecting a little brother. I jumped at the chance to help out, because it was such a great memory of mine to have a 'last hurrah' special day as the only kid in the family.

We hit up a few thrift stores and raided our closets for all the scarves, hats, and beads a little girl's heart could handle. Once they got all dressed up, the girls danced and played while we put the finishing touches on the snacks.

My awesome 13-yeard-old friend helped out with the little ones. As you can see she was the best, and kept the girls entertained for quite a while.

Pounce!

Sarah prepared some plain sugar cookies and white frosted cupcakes for the girls to decorate, while my sister Emma sliced up fruit and I set the table.

Everyone got a cupcake and cookie to decorate, with a ton of sprinkle choices.

The sweets were of course a big hit!

Here's the beautiful soon-to-be big sister enjoying the icing on her cupcake.

As the party came to a close, Sarah read everyone (especially her daughter) the Bernstein Bear's book where they get a new baby. It was basically the cutest thing that's ever happened.

Here are some of the party guests in all their finery! Complete with a shot of me cleaning up afterwards looking oh-so-fabulous in my frumpy hat and frilly boa:

It was so, so special to get to share this fun time with little K and her mama! I know she felt loved and enjoyed a party just for her. I was especially glad to get to share it with my little sister, too. She's my favorite person, and her arrival in my life changed it for the better one thousand percent! Seriously, she's amazing and super adorable to boot:

Thanks for reading, as always, and I hope you have a blessed day!
